The Owls last three-game winning streak against their southern rivals came back in 2018 when FAU swept the season series. The two sides will meet one more time in two weeks in the same place. OWLS IN REVIEW The Owls took one of three against 12th ranked East Carolina over the weekend. After a 4-1 defeat on Friday, Saturday’s middle game was a thriller. Spencer Rich’s walk-off single with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the ninth evened the series. ECU held off a late comeback attempt from the Owls to win Sunday’s finale 8-6. WHO’S HOT Danny Trehey made three appearances last week totaling four innings and did not allow a hit. He struck out five and earned a win and a save in the Owls’ 2-2 week. His ERA entering Tuesday’s game sits at 0.72.Brandon Smith will look to recreate the magic after making just the third start of his career last Tuesday against Miami. The graduate senior tossed five shutout innings with three strikeouts and just three hits allowed. He did not walk a batter. THE OPPONENT Miami was the victim of a sweep at the hands of Duke in ACC play over the weekend. The Hurricanes have lost six in a row overall. OPPONENT HISTORY The home team has won the last seven between FAU and UM. The Owls will be looking for their first win in Coral Gables since 2021. WHAT’S NEXT The Owls continue a stretch of five straight on the road when they head to Wichita State on Friday. Next Tuesday’s midweek matchup concludes the season series at FIU.
