Balanced Effort Leads Owls Past High Point

BOCA RATON, Fla. – (Dec. 14, 2019) – Jailyn Ingram was one of four players in double figures as the Florida Atlantic University men’s basketball team beat High Point 81-64 on Saturday. The Owls improved to 6-4 on the year.

How It Happened
High Point (2-8) got out to a 9-3 lead early on in the contest, but FAU hit four 3-pointers as part of a 16-0 run to pull ahead 19-9. The Panthers refused to go away and trimmed the margin to four points, 24-20, with six minutes to play in the frame. The Owls closed the half with a modest run to take a 35-25 cushion into the break.

The Panthers hit a pair of free throws to make the score 50-43 with just over 12 minutes to play in the second half. FAU scored five in a row to go back up by a dozen.

HPU once again got the deficit down to single digits, but Karlis Silins made a layup, giving the Owls a 57-46 lead with 9:35 on the clock and the Owls’ lead remained in double-digits for the rest of the game.

A pair of alley-oop dunks helped punctuate the victory, first with Cornelius Taylor finding Ingram, then Silins slamming home a feed from Kenan Blackshear.
