Former Florida Gators Anna Hall and Omar Craddock find success at the USATF Indoor Championships
GAINESVILLE, FL. – The USA Track & Field Indoor Championships concluded on Saturday and a pair of Gator Greats participated in the competition. Anna Hall and Omar Craddock participated in the USATF Indoor Championships, with Hall competing in the women’s pentathlon and 400-meter events while Craddock competed in the men’s triple jump.
Hall started the competition on Thursday with the pentathlon, comprised of the of the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump, and 800-meter events. From the first event, Hall took the lead in the competition and would not give it up, taking first-place in all five events. The 60-meter hurdles (8.04), high jump (1.91m/6’3.25″), and shot put (13.80m/45’3.5″) were all personal bests for Hall. In the long jump, her mark of 6.34m/20’9.75″ placed her just one event away from the US Championship and history in the pentathlon.
In the final event of the pentathlon, the 800m, Hall needed to run at least a 2:19.55 to break the American, the meet, and the facility records. She easily surpassed that number, running a 2:05.70 in the event. Her final total score in the pentathlon (5004) broke the American record held by Sharon Day-Monroe by 199 points and was just 9 points off the world record.
A day later, Hall began her attempt at the pentathlon/400m double. She automatically qualified for the semifinals, taking first place in her heat. On Saturday in the finals, Hall ran a personal best of 51.03 in the event to pull off the incredible double and further cement herself as one of the most electrifying and all-around performers in track and field.
Omar Craddock, a three-time triple jump national champion at Florida, was the other former Gator to take part in the Indoor Championship. He finished second in the triple jump competition (16.38m/53’9″), behind Donald Scott.
