Andy Kennedy Adds Terry Parker and Wilbur Allen to UAB Men’s Basketball Staff

BIRMINGHAM – UAB Men’s Basketball Head Coach Andy Kennedy has announced the additions of Terry Parker and Wilbur Allen to his staff. Parker will be an Assistant Coach while Allen will serve as Director of Basketball Administration.
 
Parker, who brings over 10 years of coaching experience, comes to UAB after spending the last six seasons as an Assistant Coachat Indiana State. Additionally, he has had stops at Utah Valley and Nicholls State.
 
While at ISU, Parker coached 14 All-Missouri Valley Conference players a total of 17 times including 2015 MVC Freshman of the Year Brenton Scott.
 
Parker came to Indiana State from Utah Valley State, where he guided the Wolverines to a 20-12 overall record, 13-3 in the Western Athletic Conference in 2013-14. UVU was the WAC regular season champions in their first year in the league and recorded their first NIT appearance in school history.
 
Prior to Utah Valley, Parker served as an Assistant Coach at Nicholls State for three seasons (2010-13).
 
Parker began his Division I playing career at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he played for two seasons before transferring to Louisiana Tech for his junior and senior seasons. In 2005-06, Parker was part of a LA Tech squad that went 20-13 overall, 11-5 in the WAC and earned a trip to the NIT his junior year.
 
After graduation, Parker remained in Ruston, working with the Bulldog coaching staff in a support capacity.

KENNEDY ON PARKER:

The Atlanta native has worked the last six seasons as an assistant at Indiana State under my good friend Greg Lansing and he has helped ISU compete year in and year out in the always competitive Missouri Valley Conference. Terry will add great value to Blazer Basketball and support our players both on and off the court.”
 
Allen, who was on staff with Kennedy at OIe Miss, arrives in the Magic City after spending last season as Director of College Scouting for Babcock Hoops, a sports media company.
 
Prior to joining Babcock Hoops, Allen was an Assistant Coach at Appalachian State for the 2018-19 season.            
 
The season before, Allen served as Coordinator of Player Development at Ole Miss under Kennedy. In that role, he was responsible for the scouting of potential prospects, preparing game plans, working with players regarding academic progress and off-court development. He also served as an Assistant Coach on an interim basis for 12 games. Allen was a Graduate Assistant at Ole Miss for the 2016-17 season.
 
Prior to coaching in the college ranks, Allen served as the Head Coach at the NBA Yao School in Beijing City, China.
 
He began his coaching career at the famed Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. Allen was the Associate Head Coach from 2008 to 2013. While with the Warriors, he coached four NBA players: Ben McLemore, Sindarius Thornwell, Troy Williams, and Quinn Cook. In the 2011-12 season, Allen helped guide the Warriors to a perfect 44-0 record, which resulted in the school’s eighth national championship.
 
Allen graduated from Temple in 2006 with a bachelor of business administration in international business and marketing. He helped lead the Owls to four NIT appearances.

KENNEDY ON ALLEN:
“We are fortunate to get a guy like Wilbur in the important role as an administrative assistant for our program. ‘Bur played for the legendary John Chaney at Temple and has worked for me previously at Ole Miss before being an assistant coach at the Division 1 level. He will be a great asset to UAB Basketball.”
