American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Release – March 5

REGULAR SEASON TITLE ON THE LINE

The regular season title will be determined during the final games this season. With a current three-way tie at first place, Tulsa, North Texas and Temple are all looking for at least a share of the regular season championship in their final game. Tulsa will hit the road to take on Tulane at 7 p.m. ET, while North Texas will host Memphis at 7:30 p.m., with both games on Tuesday. Temple will have to wait until Wednesday when they host Florida Atlantic at 7 p.m. ET.

MEMPHIS FINDS A GROOVE

The Tigers have gotten hot at the right time of the season.  Winners of five straight, and six of their last seven, Memphis will look to continue their winning ways when they take on first-place North Texas at the Super Pit on Wednesday. The Tigers have won close games during the winning streak, winning by an average of nine points.

TULSA CONTROLS DESTINY

Having already matched their previous best record in the  American Athletic Conference, with 12 wins, the Golden Hurricane are just one game shy of earning a share of the regular season title and the number one seed in the conference tournament next week. A win will guarantee Tulsa the number  seed. The Golden Hurricane will travel to Tulane on Tuesday night to take on the Green Wave at 7 p.m. ET.

CRASHING THE GLASS

The American features three teams in the Top 6 of the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game.  Memphis (4th) averages 17.1 offensive rebounds per game, UTSA (5th) averages 16.5 rebounds per game, and Temple (7th) averages 16.3 offensive rebounds per game.

THE AMERICAN IN THE NET

North Texas (86) sits  atop the NET rankings in The American with Temple (96) jumping into the Top 100. Rice (105), South Florida (109) and Tulsa (114) all follow the Mean Green and Owls.
