American Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Release – January 26

BATTLE FOR FIRST PLACE

Sunday will feature a match up between North Texas and UAB, with both teams sitting atop the conference at 6-1.  North Texas is a perfect 8-0 in the Super Pit, while UAB is 5-2 on the road.  The Mean Green currently hold a six-game winning streak, while the Blazers have won four straight. Tipoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

AMERICAN SHOWCASE

Another marquee game for this weekend will be when Tulsa travels to Charlotte as the two teams currently tied for third place will take each other on.  Charlotte is coming off a loss, but hold a 7-1 record at home, while Tulsa enters the game with a three-game winning streak on the line. Tipoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET on ESPN+ on Saturday, January 27.

The American features three teams in the Top 10 of the NCAA in offensive rebounds per game.  Memphis (5th) averages 17.2 offensive rebounds per game, Temple (8th) averages 16.8 rebounds per game, and UTSA (9th) averages 16.4 offensive rebounds per game.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE

North Texas, currently tied for first place in The American, holds a perfect 8-0 record when playing at the Super Pit. The Mean Green extended their winning streak to six games with a home win over Tulane on Wednesday and will look to extend their winning ways with another home game on Saturday when they host UAB.
