THEN THERE WERE TWO

It’s down to just two teams in The American that remain undefeated in conference play following Tulane’s defeat of North Texas on Wednesday night. UTSA defeated Rice 67-58, while South Florida defeated Wichita State 72-46 as both teams improved to 4-0 on the season in conference action.

HARDAWAY HITS GAME WINNER

Junior North Texas guard Ereauna Hardaway kept the Mean Green undefeated in conference play on Saturday, hitting the game-winning layup with two seconds remaining against Memphis to lift North Texas past the Tigers 73-71. She finished with 18 points and seven assists.

ROADRUNNERS OFF TO HISTORIC START

Using a 60-53 win over Tulsa on last Saturday, UTSA improved to 12-2 on the season. The 12-2 record reflects the program’s best-ever through 14 games. Additionally, UTSA is 3-0 in league action for the first time since the 2009-10 squad accomplished the feat in the Southland, and the win was the 50th of Head Coach Karen Aston’s tenure.

NORTH TEXAS, SOUTH FLORIDA FACE OFF

Saturday will feature two of the top five teams in the conference as 4-0 South Florida will travel to Denton to take on 3-1 North Texas. First tip is schedule for 3 p.m. ET on ESPN+. The Bulls enter the game riding a six-game winning streak, while the Mean Green are coming off their first conference loss of the season.

AMERICAN IN THE NET

Four teams in The American are above the rest in the latest NCAA NET rankings. South Florida has moved to the front of the pack at 57, sporting the 15th toughest strength of the schedule in the nation. UTSA is next at 60, followed by Temple (97) and Tulane (99).
