American Athletic Conference Football Saturday Night Notes | Sept. 28

Army and Navy are both 4-0 for the first time since 1945. The Black Knights and Midshipmen are tied atop The American standings at 3-0 in conference play.

Army’s 42-14 win at Temple Thursday was the Black Knights’ eighth consecutive victory, tying Missouri for the longest active winning streak nationally.

Army has scored touchdowns on its first two drives in every game this season. Army is the only team in the nation that has scored on its opening drive in every game.

Army held Temple to minus-5 rushing yards, good for third on The American’s single-game chart.

Army had seven sacks against Temple after not registering a sack in its first three games.

Navy has scored at least 38 points in its first four games for the first time in program history.

Navy QB Blake Horvath is the first FBS player to have at least seven touchdown passes and seven rushing touchdowns through four games since Lamar Jackson in 2016.

North Texas had 618 yards of offense in its 52-20 win against Tulsa, marking the 11th time in Eric Morris’ 17 games as head coach at the Mean Green had at least 500 yards.

North Texas QB Chandler Morris and WR Blair Conwright connected on a 96-yard touchdown, which tied the AAC record for the longest pass completion.

Tulane has won 11 consecutive American Athletic Conference regular-season games. The only team with a longer conference winning streak is Michigan, which has won 23 consecutive Big Ten regular-season games. Georgia had 28 straight SEC wins before the Bulldogs fell to Alabama Saturday.

Memphis QB Seth Henigan saw his streak of 41 consecutive games with a touchdown pass come to an end in the Tigers’ 24-7 win against Middle Tennessee. It was the first game in Henigan’s career in which he did not throw a TD pass.

Memphis has scored at least 20 points in 32 consecutive games, which is the longest active streak nationally.

Florida Atlantic’s last 12 touchdowns have all been rushing TDs. The Owls had five rushing touchdowns in Saturday’s 41-10 win against Wagner.
