American Athletic Conference Football Release | October 8

  • The American Athletic Conference game between Memphis and South Florida – originally scheduled for Friday – has been rescheduled for Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. The conference and teams will assess the conditions and overall situation after Hurricane Milton has passed to determine if further adjustments are necessary.
  • Army and Navy are both 5-0 for the first time since 1945.
  • Army has won its last nine games, dating to last season, which is the nation’s longest active winning streak.
  • Army has scored a touchdown on its first drive in every game this season. Army is the only team in the nation that has scored a touchdown on every opening drive.
  • Army leads all FBS teams in rushing with 361.2 yards per game. Navy is third at 295.6 ypg.
  • Army (215.40) and Navy (201.05) are the top two teams nationally in pass efficiency rating.
  • The wins by Army (at Tulsa) and Navy (at Air Force) last Saturday marked the first time since Oct. 27, 1956, that the Black Knights and Midshipmen both won road games by 25 or more points on the same day.
  • Navy has scored 19 touchdowns on 19 red zone trips this season. Navy is the only team in the nation to score a touchdown on every red zone trip in 2024.
  • Navy RB Eli Heidenreich had 100 rushing yards and 101 passing yards in the Midshipmen’s win at Air Force last Saturday, becoming the first player in program history to hit triple digits in rushing and receiving in the same game.
  • The annual Army-Navy game in the second Saturday in December will not count as a conference game, but should the two academies finish atop the American Athletic Conference standings, they would meet in the AAC Championship Game Dec. 6, then play America’s Game the following week in  Landover, Maryland. There is a 1.1% chance (1-in-91) of any two specific teams’ meeting in The American Championship Game.
  • Tulane’s 71-20 win against UAB marked the Green Wave’s largest margin of victory in a conference game since 1939, when Tulane beat Sewanee 52-0 in an SEC matchup.
  • Tulane has won 12 consecutive American Athletic Conference regular-season games and has the nation’s second-longest conference winning streak. Only Michigan (24), has a longer streak.
  • Tulane has scored at least 40 points in three consecutive games for the first time since 1998.
  • North Texas has gained at least 500 yards of total offense in 11 of Eric Morris’ 17 games as head coach, including four of the Mean Green’s five games in 2024.
  • American Athletic Conference teams play a combined nine nonconference games against teams ranked in this week’s 25 polls, including games against teams ranked No. 1, No. 6 and No. 7.
  • Tulane is tied for the national lead with four defensive touchdowns this season (Coastal Carolina and SMU).
  • Memphis has scored at least 20 points in 32 consecutive games, marking the longest active streak among FBS teams
  • Temple K Maddux Trujillo hit a 60-yard field goal against UConn last Saturday, marking his second field goal of at least 60 yards this season (he hit from 64 yards against Utah State Sept. 21). Trujillo is the only NCAA FBS player with multiple 60-yard field goals this season.
  • Florida Atlantic’s last 12 touchdowns have been rushing TDs.
