American Athletic Conference Announces Volleyball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, November 5.

Offensive Player of the Week

Maria Clara Andrade, So., OH, South Florida

Clara Andrade led the Bulls to a 2-0 week with a pair of wins on the road over Temple.  The sophomore outside hitter averaged 5.75 points per set and 5 kills per set, while hitting .359.  She had a weekend-high 24 kills in the first match against the Owls.

Defensive Player of the Week

Sina Uluave, Gr., DS/L, SMU

In a battle of first place teams, Uluave led the Mustangs to a 3-0 win over East Carolina.  The graduate libero finished with 19 digs against the Pirates, while not committing a reception error in the match on 20 attempts.

Weekly Honor Roll

Kelsey Smith, So., S/OPP, UAB

Smith finished with back-to-back triple-doubles against Charlotte. She had 19 kills, 21 assists and 12 digs in the first match and followed up with a 13 kill, 29 assist, 15 dig performance.

Arianna Beckham, So., OH/RS, Florida Atlantic

Beckham had a pair of double-doubles in wins over Memphis, posting 27 total kills (3.38 kills/set) and 31 digs (3.88 digs/set) in the two wins.

Darby Harris, So., S, Rice

Harris not only paced the Owls offensively with 7 assists per set but help anchor the defense by averaging 4.29 digs per set at the setter position.

Naya Shime, Sr., OH, SMU

Shime had 13 kills and hit .423 against East Carolina, while adding four digs on the defensive side.

Alicia Coppedge, Sr., MB, UTSA

Coppedge averaged 4.93 points per set and hit .542 from the middle blocker position, while adding 1.29 blocks per set.

Ellie Turner, Jr., DS, UTSA

Turner finished the week with 6.14 digs per set to help the Owls pick up a pair of wins over Tulsa.
