American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, March 31.

Player of the Week

Imani Edwards, Sr., SS, Tulsa

Ewards led the Golden Hurricane to a conference sweep over UAB, slashing .600/.600/1.000 in the three-game series. Edwards had two hits in every game, while also scoring a run in all three games. She finished the week with five runs scored and three RBI.

Pitcher of the Week

Mackenzie Childers, So., North Texas

Childers led the Mean Green to a series win over South Florida and a non-conference win over UT Arlington. She earned three wins on the week, striking out 17 batters across 18.0 innings pitched.

Weekly Honor Roll

Ainsley Lambert, Jr., P, Florida Atlantic

Lambert earned a win and a save for the Owls, finishing the week with a 0.66 ERA in three games against East Carolina.

Jesiana Mora, So., INF, Florida Atlantic

Mora held a hit in every game against East Carolina, including going 2-for-2 with two RBI and two runs scored in the series clinching win.

Kailey Gamble, Sr., INF, North Texas

Gamble hit the game-winning two-run double in the series finale against South Florida to secure a series wins against the Bulls.

Taylor Jensen, Sr., C, UTSA

Jensen helped UTSA to a series win over Memphis, going 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs and two RBI in the series clincher.

Raegan Smith, So., P, UTSA

Smith finished with a 0.81 ERA across 8.2 innings pitched, earning a win against Memphis.
