American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, March 24.

Player of the Week

CC Wong, Sr., INF, Wichita State

Wong led the Shockers to a sweep over UTSA, hitting .625 over the three-game series. She finished with a league-best 11 RBI on the weekend, while hitting four home runs. Wong held a slugging percentage of 2.125 and an on-base percentage of .700.

Pitcher of the Week

Skylar Savage, Jr., North Texas

Savage earned two wins for the Mean Green, tossing a combined 9.2 scoreless inning against Tulsa. She tossed a complete game shutout over the Golden Hurricane as the Mean Green walked off Tulsa to start the week, before coming on in relief in a 3-2 walk-off win, throwing 2.2 shutout innings.

Weekly Honor Roll

Taylor Apple, Fr., P, East Carolina

Apple earned two wins for the Pirates as East Carolina won its first American series of the year. Apple held a 1.31 ERA across 16 innings pitched.

Kiley Channell, Fr., INF, Florida Atlantic

Channell knocked in 10 runs across four wins for the Owls, including batting .500 with seven RBI in the sweep over Memphis.

Trinity Schlotterbeck, Gr., P, Florida Atlantic

Schlotterbeck took home two wins, tossing 12 innings and holding a 0.58 ERA in wins against FIU and Memphis.

Maura Moore, Jr., P, Tulsa

Moore threw a complete game shutout over No. 4 Oklahoma State, striking out four batters in the win.

Lauren Howell, Sr., P, Wichita State

Howell threw a five inning shutout over UTSA, striking out nine batters and allowing just one hit.
