American Athletic Conference Announces Softball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly softball awards for the week ending Sunday, April 28.

Player of the Week

Ella Chancey, Jr., INF, Charlotte

Chancey led the 49ers to a 4-0 week, including a sweep of conference foe UAB to move into a tie for first place in The American.  Chancey slashed .429/.400/1.000 with eight RBI and three runs scored.  She recorded a hit and drove in multiple RBI in each game of the series against UAB.

Pitcher of the Week

Skylar Savage, Jr., P, North Texas

Savage earned a pair of wins for the Mean Green while not allowing a run over 8.2 innings pitched.  In the 1-0 win over Wichita State, Savage earned a win in relief, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings. She followed up with 6.0 scoreless innings pitched in a win to clinch the series against the Shockers.

Weekly Honor Roll

Sam Gress, Jr., P, Charlotte

Gress earned a pair of wins for the 49ers, finishing with an ERA of 0.64 across 11 inning pitched.

Logan Sutton, Jr., INF, East Carolina

Sutton helped guide the Pirates to a 4-0 week, slashing .444/.643/1.000 with five RBI and five runs scored.

Trinity Schlotterbeck, Gr., P, Florida Atlantic

Schlotterbeck finished with a 0.58 ERA across 12 innings pitched for the Owls, including a complete-game shutout against South Florida.

Anneca Anderson, Fr., P, Tulsa

Anderson tossed a 5.0 inning no-hitter against UTSA, striking out six batters in the win over the Roadrunners.

Chloe Barber, Fr., P, Wichita State

Barber finished with a league-high 17 strikeouts and held a 0.54 ERA across 13.0 innings pitched.
