American Athletic Conference Announces Men’s Soccer Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s soccer awards for the final week of the regular season.

Offensive Player of the Week

Jonathan Nyandjo, Sr., F, Charlotte

Nyandjo scored the game-winning goal in the 76th minute for the 49ers in a 1-0 win over Memphis to earn a first-round bye and the No. 2 seed in the upcoming American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship.

Defensive Player of the Week

Ian Pilcher, Jr., D, Charlotte

Pilcher anchored the 49ers defense, allowing just two shots on goal while playing the full 90 minutes.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Alan Horrocks, So., South Florida

Horrocks finished with a clean sheet in the goal for the Bulls, helping South Florida earn a spot in the American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship.

Rookie of the Week

Niv Berkovitz, Fr., F, SMU

Berkovitz scored the opening goal in SMU’s 2-1 win over Temple to help the Mustangs secured the top overall seed and home field advantage in the American Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship.

Weekly Honor Roll

Natsuki Ogata, Fr., F, Charlotte

Ogata assisted on the game-winning goal for the 49ers to help clinch the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

Leonard Stritter, So., GK, Charlotte

Stritter finished with two saves in a clean-sheet effort to help Charlotte earn a first-round bye in the conference tournament.

Jalen Anderson, Gr., ST, South Florida

Anderson scored his 7th goal of the season, coming off a penalty kick to help the Bulls beat Florida Atlantic 2-0.

Alexander Petraeus, So., F, SMU

Patraeus assisted on a pair of goals for the Mustangs in the 2-1 win over Temple on Senior Night.

Mads Westergren, Jr., D, SMU

Westergren anchored the defense for 90 minutes, allowing just two shots on goal in the win over Temple.
