IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly men’s basketball honors for the eighth week of the regular season.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Moussa Cisse, Sr., C, Memphis
Cisse posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds as the Tigers took down No. 16 Ole Miss, 87-70, on Saturday, December 28, in Memphis. The fifth-year senior also blocked three shots in the win.
FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
Jaye Nash, G, Tulsa
Nash tied the Golden Hurricane freshman record with 10 assists in 20 minutes of action in a win over Southwestern Christian on Saturday. The point guard also converted his only field goal attempt of the game, a three-pointer.
HONORABLE MENTION
Brandon Stroud, Gr., G, South Florida
Stroud recorded 16 points and three rebounds in a win over Webber International on Saturday.
Steve Settle, Sr., F, Temple
Settle posted a double-double with 13 points, 11 rebounds and four assists in a win over Buffalo on Sunday, December 29.
Primo Spears, Sr., G, UTSA
Spears scored 22 points and added nine rebounds against Army on Sunday.
Tyshawn Archie, So., G, Tulsa
Archie recorded 18 points, five rebounds and three assists in a win over Southwestern Christian.
Xavier Bell, Sr., G, Wichita State
Bell dropped 29 points with four rebounds against Friends on Sunday.
