American Athletic Conference Announces Indoor Track & Field Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly indoor track & field awards for the week ending Sunday, February 11.

MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Mike Roth, Jr., UTSA

Roth ran the top time in The American in the 400-meter dash at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational with a time of 46.45.  The time also marks the 27th best in the NCAA.

MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Will Dibo, So., Memphis

Dibo had the top weight throw in The American this season, with a distance of 21.82 meters at the Bulldog Invite. It is the 18th best throw in the nation this year.

Gabriel Binion, Jr., UTSA

Binion jumped 7.77m in long jump at the Don Kirby Elite Invitational. It is the top jump in The American and the 18th best in the NCAA. He also had the 18th best triple jump in the NCAA with a distance of 15.86m.

WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Joyasia Smith, So., Charlotte

Smith ran the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.20 at the Darius Dixon Invitational, the 30th best time in the NCAA this season.

WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Ida Breigan, Fr., UTSA

Breigan reset The American record in long jump with a jump of 6.52 meters. She also set the Norwegian indoor record, previously set in 1967.
