CHIEFS QB PATRICK MAHOMES, BILLS S JORDAN POYER &

BENGALS K EVAN MCPHERSON NAMED AFC PLAYERS OF WEEK 4

Quarterback PATRICK MAHOMES of the Kansas City Chiefs, safety JORDAN POYER of the Buffalo Bills and kicker EVAN MCPHERSON of the Cincinnati Bengals are the AFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played in Week 4 (September 29, October 2-3)

OFFENSE: QB PATRICK MAHOMES, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

  • Mahomes completed 23 of 37 pass attempts (62.2 percent) for 249 yards and three touchdowns with one interception for a 97.7 rating and added 34 rushing yards in Kansas City’s 41-31 win at Tampa Bay. He was the only AFC player to record three touchdown passes in Week 4.
  • This is the ninth-career Offensive Player of the Week Award for Mahomes, the most by any Kansas City player:
    • 2018: Weeks 1-2
    • 2019: Week 2
    • 2020: Weeks 3, 8
    • 2021: Weeks 1, 10
    • 2022: Week 1, 4
  • Mahomes’ nine Offensive Player of the Week awards are fifth-most among active quarterbacks.

DEFENSE: S JORDAN POYER, BUFFALO BILLS

  • Poyer recorded six tackles, three passes defensed and two interceptions as Buffalo overcame a 17-point deficit to defeat Baltimore, 23-20. Poyer’s second interception in his own end zone with under five minutes remaining in the fourth quarter led to Buffalo’s game-winning field goal as time expired.
  • This is the first Defensive Player of the Week award for Poyer. He is the first Bills safety to win the award since Baccari Rambo in Week 10 of the 2015 season.
  • Poyer is the first Oregon State defensive player to win the award since Nick Barnett in Week 1 of the 2004 season.

SPECIAL TEAMS: K EVAN MCPHERSON, CINCINNATI BENGALS

  • McPherson connected on two fourth-quarter field goal attempts – from 19 and 57 yards – and all three of his point after attempts in Cincinnati’s 27-15 win over Miami.
  • This is McPherson’s third-career Special Teams Player of the Week award:
    • 2021: Week 1, 11
    • 2022: Week 4
  • McPherson is the second Bengals kicker to win at least three Special Teams Player of the Week, joining Doug Pelfrey (four).
