A Star Shines Bright in Dallas

Monday night’s game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Mavericks was nothing but historical as one the leagues brightest stars made history. Mavericks point guard Luka Doncic, 20, became the second-youngest player in the NBA to have a 40-point triple-double before the age of 21. His idol, LeBron James, is the only other player to do so in recent memory. The Mavericks would go on to win 117-110 thanks to Doncic’s 42 point, 12 assist and 11 rebound performance. “It’s not surprising to me,” Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle said of Doncic. “This guy can do anything he wants to on a basketball court. And you know, he’s having just one those magical runs right now, and it’s a phenomenal thing to watch. It’s a phenomenal thing to be a part of. His teammates, we’re all just kind of along for the ride.”

Jalen Rose of the Jalen and Jacoby show reacted to Doncic’s historical night by saying, “It’s easy work!”

It certainly seems like easy work for Doncic as he continues to improve his game. He averages 26.7 points a game, 9.9 rebounds, and 9.1 assists in 35.9 minutes per game. He also shoots 46.6 percent from the field and from the free-throw line, 81.1 percent. He’s a surefire candidate for this year’s MVP race According to Forbes.com, Luka Ducic’s MVP odds dropped to 12-1 after triple-double No. 6.
