A sinful theatrical experience awaits theatergoers in Miami Beach

For this theatrical experience, even the seven deadly sins will stand safely apart.

Beginning later this month, and continuing through early January, Miami New Drama in Miami Beach will present seven short plays. Each features a story centered on one of the seven deadly sins. Specifically, they are envy, lust, greed, gluttony, wrath, pride, and sloth.

The nonprofit, professional Miami New Drama has commissioned seven nationally-recognized, award-winning playwrights to “give their take on” the seven deadly sins, artistic director Michel Hausmann said in an introductory video.

And “world class designers” will transform seven storefronts along Miami Beach’s Lincoln Road into “seven unique worlds,” Hausmann said.  In rotation over 90 minutes, small groups of socially-distanced theatergoers will listen to the plays through headphones. Also, Miami New Drama, which will provide hand sanitizer, is requiring audience members to wear masks in accordance with COVID safety protocols.  Meanwhile, cast members will perform from behind the storefronts’ windows.

“I’m happy to report that here, in the heart of Miami Beach, theater is back,” Hausmann said.
