INDIANAPOLIS – After the Jaguars extended their win streak to 12 games with a pair of road victories, IUPUI’s Macee Williams earned her fifth Nike® #HLWBB Player of the Week award. The junior posted 27 points and 9.5 rebounds as IUPUI maintained a three-game lead in the League standings. Oakland freshman Alona Blackwell picked up her second straight Nike® #HLWBB Freshman of the Week honor as she averaged 12.5 points for the Golden Grizzlies in two home contests this week.

Williams was dominant for the Jags as IUPUI increased its winning streak to 12 with wins over Detroit Mercy and Oakland. The junior averaged 27 points and 9.5 rebounds in just over 24 minutes per game. Williams was extremely efficient going 25-for-34 (73.5%) from the field. Against Detroit Mercy, Williams scored 23 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for her 12th double-double of the season. She then scored 31 points on 15-of-19 shooting, and grabbed eight rebounds against the Golden Grizzlies. Williams is now second in the League in scoring at 17.5 points per game and leads the league with 9.3 rebounds per game.

Making her second and third career starts, Blackwell averaged 12.5 points per game, shooting 9-for-23 from the field (39.1%) and 5-for-13 from 3-point range (38.5%) with three assists, three rebounds and four steals to lead Oakland to a 1-1 record for the week. Blackwell scored in double figures for the second straight game with 11 points helping Oakland to its second consecutive league win with a 63-46 decision over UIC. She followed that performance scoring in double figures for the third consecutive game with a team-high 14 points on 5-for-10 shooting from the field, 2-for-5 from 3-point range and 2-for-2 from the free throw line with a career-high three steals in the Oakland’s set back to league leader IUPUI.
