UF S&D: Florida Places 28 on the CSCAA Postseason All-American List

16 men and 12 women earned a combined 77 honors.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – After both claiming third place at NCAA Championships, the men’s and women’s swimming and diving team landed 28 Gators on the College Swimming and Diving coaches Association of American (CSCAA) All-American Honors list. The program earned a combined 77 honors (57 first team and 20 second-team).

16 men were named on the list following their third-place finish at last week’s NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. Florida took home five National Titles and totaled 30 top-16 finishes, while recording 18 top-10 program bests. The men’s 200 Medley Relay team of Josh Liendo, Adam Chaney, Julian Smith and Macguire McDuff set a new NCAA, U.S Open, meet, pool and program record following their 1:20.15 time. Liendo racked up six honors following his three National Titles in the 50 Free, 100 Free, 100 Fly and his three relay appearances in the 200 Free Relay, 400 Free Relay, 400 Medley Relay. The sophomore contributed to 154 of Florida’s points (60 individual and 94 relay).

The Florida Women had 12 named after their third-place finish at this year’s NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships in Athens, Ga. Four of Florida’s five relay teams merited top-five finishes, tallying 136 team points. The 800 Free Relay team of Bella Sims, Isabel Ivey, Emma Weyant and Micayla Cronk won the program’s first National Title in the event since 1989. Florida tallied 17 top-10 finishes and recorded 11 top-10 program bests. Bella Sims earned six first-team and one second-team All-American honors following her first NCAA Championship appearance. The freshman was crowned the 500 Free and 200 Free National Champion, while setting two individual program, pool and SEC records. She was also the lead off in the 800 Free Relay Team that broke UF’s, SEC’s and Georgia’s pool record on the opening night with a 6:48.59 time.
