SB | No. 25 Owls Fall to the Pirates at Home

BOCA RATON, Fla. – The No. 25 Florida Atlantic softball team fell to the ECU Pirates in the series opener on Thursday evening.
The Owls move to 28-8, 8-2 AAC after game one of the three-game series. Pitcher Trinity Schlotterbeck started in the circle for Florida Atlantic, tonight marking her 13th start.
THE GAME
The Owls scored in the first inning to get on the board early. Third baseman Jesiana Mora hit an RBI single, which brought in Cammeo Presutti. The Pirates answered back in the fourth inning with a homer and an RBI double to take the lead. To get Florida Atlantic another run on the board, senior Zoey Jones hit a home run to right field to tie the game. In the sixth inning, the Pirates hit a home run of their own to extend their lead late in the game.
Schlotterbeck was due up in the bottom of the seventh and hit a two RBI double to tie the game. With the double, the game went into extra innings. East Carolina hit their third home run of the night to regain the lead. Lambert pitched a total of 7.2 innings on the night, setting a new career-high of eight strikeouts in a game. Schlotterbeck returned to the circle to close out the game in the 14th inning.
