1-0 Championship Mentality

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Every week is a championship game for the Florida Atlantic University football team (4-4, 3-1 AAC) who continue to fight for a chance to win the East Division and to earn an opportunity to play an additional game together. This week’s championship and the opportunity to go 1-0 is slated to be played at 3 p.m. EST, on Saturday, Nov. 4th versus host UAB (2-6, 1-3 AAC). The matchup will air on ESPN+.

This will be the 10th meeting between the two schools; however, both are under the direction of first year coaches. Since 2020, the two schools have traded wins, both winning at home. Both also met in a conference championship, 2019, with FAU coming away with the 49-6 C-USA Championship victory and the Owls hold the all-time 6-3 record versus Blazers.

A fast start is important to FAU and thus far the Owls have done just that. FAU has won 5-of-8-coin tosses and has received just once in eight games. Junior quarterback Daniel Richardson became the Owls’ starter in game four. In four of his five starts, Richardson has led an opening-game scoring drive. His first ended in a punt, but in AAC play, his leadership has led to opening drives of three touchdowns and a field goal.
