On October 21st we watched Baltimore wipe the floor with our entire team. Offense, defense, special teams, and coaching outclassed the Lions the complete game. But there were a couple of positives from this loss.
Offensively:
Jahmyr Gibbs scored his first Touchdown of his rookie season after missing some time. It was the Lions only score of the game. So sad!
Goff tried to stay as poised as possible with pressure unlike he had never saw this season. The Oline gave up an uncharacteristic 5 sacks and pressure from all sides.
If Penei Sewell get 2 more holding penalties. He’ll have more holding penalties than the other linemen combined.
Amon-Ra continues to assert himself into being our #1 WR, and it isn’t even close.
Mo Ibrahim had nice 22 yard KR but was upended and injured. He is staying in Baltimore undergoing emergency hip surgery after the game.
All in all the Lions only had 40 seconds less of time of possession.
Defensively:
Kerby Joseph lead all tacklers with 9. That usually doesn’t bode well in the run game, especially if your safety leads the tackling in the game.
The Bads:
It took almost the entire game for the offense to put a scoring drive together. That was the offense in a nutshell
Goff was 33 of 53 284 yards 1 TD and 1 pick. Not his best day
The Oline allowed 5 sacks and so many pressures. Jared Goff may have PMSTSD (Post Matthew Stafford Traumatic Stress Disorder.) If that would have been a domed stadium, he could have told the maintenance crew if they were missing rivets.
But that being said, when the schedule was released, I had an inkling this would be a loss. But with the dominant play on both sides of the ball through 6 games. I was hoping that trend would continue.
The Lions will return to Detroit and get what should be a get right game at home on Monday Night Football versus the Las Wages Raiders who just lost to the hapless Chicago Bears.
Final Score:
DET 6
BAL 38
