American Athletic Conference Announces Volleyball Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly volleyball awards for the week ending Sunday, October 1.

Offensive Player of the Week

Buse Hazan, So., OH, South Florida

Hazan had a masterful week for the Bulls, helping guide South Florida to a pair of sweeps over UAB.  The sophomore outside hitter averaged 6.5 points per set and 5.5 kills per set, while hitting .393 on the weekend.  She added a pair of blocks in both wins.

Defensive Player of the Week

Nia McCardell, Sr., L, Rice

McCardell earns her second straight Defensive Player of the Week honor after helping the Owls improve to 5-0 in conference play with a pair of wins over UTSA.  The senior libero averaged five digs per set and held a perfect reception percentage across the weekend.

Weekly Honor Roll

Lara Kretschmer, Sr., MB, Charlotte

Kretschmer hit above .500 for the weekend while averaging 4.14 points per set to help the 49ers earn a pair of wins against Memphis.

Valeria Rosado, Jr., OH/RS, Florida Atlantic

Rosado earned a pair of double-doubles for the Owls, including a 21 kills, 17 dig performance in the 3-1 win over East Carolina.

Emilia Weske, Gr., RS, Rice

Weske averaged 5.83 points per set in a pair of Owl sweeps, while adding seven total blocks for the weekend.

Ragan Kinard, Jr., OH, South Florida

Kinard finished with eight blocks across four sets for the Bulls.  She opened the weekend with a three-block performance, before following up with a five block outing to end the weekend.

Camryn Lingenbrick, So., MB, Tulsa

Lingenbrick averaged 1.67 blocks per set, including a weekend-high nine blocks in the 3-1 win over North Texas.  She added 2.56 points per set for the Golden Hurricane.
