Florida Atlantic Travels to UTSA for Regular-Season Finale

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The final regular-season series of the 2023 season is here for the Florida Atlantic University softball team. The Owls will fly to UTSA for a three-game set from May 5-7. The Owls and Roadrunners will begin the series Friday night at 7 p.m. eastern time.

STATS & NOTES

• The Conference USA standings are tight as can be, with seeds 1-7 separated by only three games
• The Owls, currently in sixth place, are looking to get back on track after a sweep at the hands of North Texas last time out
• Pitching has been a strong point of Florida Atlantic’s season, with the Owls’ staff ranking 17 in the nation and leading Conference USA in ERA with a 2.00 clip
• Gabby Sacco has been the ace of the effective Owl staff and is having an outstanding sophomore season
• Sacco leads C-USA and ranks 19 in the nation in ERA (1.40) while ranking second in the conference and 23 in the nation in wins (18) with an 18-6 record
• The sophomore righty also ranks third in C-USA in opposing batting average with a .203 mark against her
• Ainsley Lambert has pitched to a 1.92 ERA, good for fifth in the conference, and also ranks second in C-USA in opposing batting average with a mark of 1.97
• The pitching staff has thrown 332 out of its 339 innings to the backstop Olivia Peterson
• Peterson has started in 46 out of the Owl 48 games at catcher and ranks 25 in the nation in second in the conference in runners caught stealing at 12
• The Owl catcher also has gotten it done at the plate, batting .288 with five home runs and 11 RBI in C-USA games
• FAU has held the upper hand in this series, with a 15-2 record against UTSA
• These two teams met in the 2022 C-USA Tournament, with the Owls taking an 11-4 victory
