KANSAS CITY – WKU DL Brodric Martin was selected in the third round (96th overall) by the Detroit Lions as the first Conference USA player off the board in the NFL Draft on Friday night.
Martin totaled 62 tackles in his two seasons in Bowling Green and recorded 6.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks in 28 appearances, 15 of which were starts. The 6’5” 337 pound defensive anchor started all 14 games for the Hilltoppers in 2023 and recorded 31 tackles, 1.5 sacks, a forced fumble, had seven quarterback hurries and a pair of pass break-ups. Martin really shined in WKU’s game at Indiana, as the Alabama native finished with six tackles, a half sack and a quarterback hurry. Martin was an All-Conference USA honorable mention selection by the league’s 11 head coaches and also garnered an invite from the 2023 East-West Shrine Bowl.
Martin’s selection brings C-USA’s total number of draftees to 57 since 2016.
