JAGUARS HEAD COACH DOUG PEDERSON

(On QB Lamar Jackson) “He’s a great player. Listen, you’ve just got to go play and trust your instinct,
trust your technique, trust how you’ve been coached during the week and try to corral the guy. He’s a
tremendous athlete, both with his legs and throwing the football. You’ve just got to go execute your
game plan.”
(On how the players responded coming back off the bye) “Good. They came back energized, ready to go,
eager. We’ve had a couple good days here of practice, and we’ll finish up the next couple days, but they
came back ready to go.”
(On how much a bye week going into a game can help with extra prep) “You don’t spend a lot of time
prepping for this game. You spend more time looking at the first 10 and really evaluating that and trying
to come away with some solutions, some answers, maybe some different things that we haven’t show
or could possibly show here in the next seven games. It’s more about that and sort of the self-scout than
it is kind of prepping for your next opponent.”
(On what was attractive about RB Darrell Henderson Jr.) “He’s a veteran guy, been in the league here a
couple years, and he’s a nice downhill guy, little bit bigger guy and just a great opportunity. I remember
looking at him when he was coming out and liked him then. Anytime you can add these type of players
to your roster, and it’s already a great room, comfortable with all the guys. This is not anything against
Snoop (RB Snoop Conner) or JaMycal (RB JaMycal Hasty) at all. We started the season with four, and this
will give us an opportunity to keep four in that room.”
(On if Sunday would be too soon for him to play) “Oh yeah, it would be too soon. He just got here. I’m
sure he got a little jetlagged from West Coast to East Coast and just trying to get caught up with some of
the terminology.”
(On the best way he wants to use RB Darrell Henderson Jr.) “Just hand him the ball. (Laughter) He’s a
running back.”
(On if he would be helpful to take some reps off of RB Travis Etienne Jr.) “Yeah, it’s ideal. We’ve got to
get him sort of indoctrinated in there and kind of see what he can do. Obviously, we know what he’s put
on tape, and it’s a little different running style probably from what he’s used to here, so we’ve just got
to get him going and see what he can do. I love his physicality. He’s a downhill guy, kind of a one-cut
guy. With seven games, we just want to make sure we can get him caught up to speed as fast as we can,
and if that means him and JaMycal (RB JaMycal Hasty) or Snoop (RB Snoop Conner) and JaMycal,
whoever the combinations are, taking reps off of or taking snaps off of TJ (RB Travis Etienne Jr.) and
helping, we can try to do that.”
(On his teams in Philly that did really well after Thanksgiving and where this team could be headed) “I
think teams really begin to understand who they are from the middle season on. I think that’s what
we’re experiencing a little bit, kind of who we are, the identity of the football team. The success, too, is
just continuing to work hard and practice good and practice well and play well. Again, coming out of the
bye, some of the things you can do differently moving forward help you. Things that the opponents
probably haven’t seen, in the first few weeks of the season. It’s just a matter of continuing to improve,
playing your best football, obviously, toward the end of the year if you’re in a position to go to the post-
season, you know you want to be playing your best ball in the last month and a half of so of the year.”
(On how he has seen LB Devin Lloyd respond this week) “Really good. He’s done a nice job of just
accepting where he is but at the same time, he continues to work, and special teams becomes more
important for him. Him and Chad (LB Chad Muma) sort of flip roles just a touch. He’s been in a great
frame of mind this week, and that’s what you want in situations like this, and it kind of frees them up a
bit.”
