BRONCOS HEAD COACH NATHANIEL HACKETT
POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2022
NATHANIEL HACKETT: Lloyd Cushenberry didn’t finish. He’s got a hip.
Q. What was your impression of the fourth quarter offense? What did you see out of that group on
that drive?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: We challenged the offense this whole week. We need to be able to make big time
plays in big time situations. I think that’s been the kind of thing that’s been holding us back.
We’ve been in a lot of different football games, had a lot of opportunities, and haven’t come up with
those. We needed that to happen, and we challenged them, like I said, and those guys stepped up. I give
a lot of credit to Jacksonville. They changed up a lot of their scheme and then I thought our offensive
coaches did a great job. We made some major adjustments at halftime and were able to move the ball
and get some good touchdowns.
Q. You went nine plays, 98 yards in the first drive of the second half, four minutes and 22 seconds,
best football you’ve played offensively all season. Can you just talk about that drive?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: I agree. It was funny, we were back there — that’s always one of those things
you’ve got two ways to look at it. You’re either on the minus 2 or you get to have a chance to get 98
yards of offense.
I thought those guys took it that way. They wanted to go 98 yards. They wanted to get those stats. They
wanted to get those plays. We changed the tempo up a little bit. Russell started getting comfortable. We
really were attacking a whole bunch, both in the run game and in the pass game.
Intermediate we were mixing everything up. I thought that it was great to see Russell feel comfortable,
especially on that drive. Just sitting in the pocket, the line did a great job of protecting him during that
time. I thought it was a really good drive.
That kind of led to some other adjustments throughout the game.
Q. On Russell specifically, what happened in the second quarter?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: Yeah, the first quarter, that was a hot start. We come out and we go three-and-
out, throw a pick on the second play. Again, that comes to that pressing, people wanting to make things
happen instead of operating and not trying to do too much.
Talked with Russell, told him to take a breath, breathe, just do what he does. I think that as we kind of
came into what we wanted to do in this game after we saw the adjustments that Jacksonville had made,
we were able to get some efficient plays for him.
That’s how he started feeling in that groove, because it’s a long football game, and with a great defense
like we have you’re always going to be in that game and I think he knows that.
Q. Any time you get a turnover in the red zone it’s a big play, but given where you guys were at in the
season, how big of a play was that?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: It was huge. Justin had the penalty I think in the same drive right before that had
advanced them. He didn’t skip a beat. He knew, bend, don’t break. Goes down there and they run the
sprint over to the right and he picks it off, which is absolutely an incredible play and huge for us.
We didn’t get to capitalize and score on it. We just got that ball out of the end zone, which is so huge to
get any stop in the red zone. I think for us in the red zone we were three for three.
Whenever you have that going for you you’re going to have a chance to win the game.
Q. There was a lot made this week about your future, the future of this team, what the outlook was
for this season. We saw your emotion after the game. Can you take us through what this win means
for you personally and for this team?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: I mean, all that stuff I can’t control. For me, it’s about controlling what I can
control. All the coaches, all the players. We always want to focus in on what we can do so we continue
to get better. We’ve had opportunities to win a lot of football games. That’s facts.
We’ve hurt ourselves. So it’s about us continually learning to not hurt ourselves to give us a chance to
win the game, and I think this game is more important for us because of how we won it, being up and
then down and then up and being able to weather that storm.
That I love so much about this game and this team in here, is sticking together throughout what
anybody says. They’ve been staying together through it all, and that is what I appreciate and that gives
you a sign that it’s a chance to be a good team.
Q. In the second half, struggled offensively. Did they change anything in terms of planning?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: A little bit. We kind of went into the half having an idea of how we wanted to
attack them the second half. They then made some other adjustments. It’s that chess match. It goes
back and forth. Wanted to get to one thing, they ended up changing that up, then we came back to
something else.
And I thought it was great to see that even with those things happening to us, they still didn’t waver and
we were still able to get a drive to win the game.
Q. The catch made by the receiver in there (indiscernible)?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: Well, we all know Courtland is a good football player, and so everybody is going
to try to take him away. That is going to open up opportunities for Jerry and KJ and Dulcich, because the
more people that you have that people are nervous about, the more it’ll open Courtland back up a little
bit more.
But if they’re going to try to do that, then other people need to step up and make a play. We had talked
about that in between the series, that we wanted to give KJ an opportunity for a go-ball to that side, and
we got the look we wanted and he executed it to perfection. That’s what we’re looking for, just when
you have those opportunities, being able to make it happen.
Q. Besides you, Russell gets a lot of guff and has received a lot of guff the last couple of weeks. Do you
think that affected him at all, and how do you think he responded?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: I don’t. I mean, he’s an amazing human being from that standpoint. Everybody
says what they want. They say whatever they want. That’s part of this game. It comes with the territory.
As a head coach, as a quarterback, you’re always going to get that, especially if you don’t win, especially
if the offense doesn’t look good, like it hasn’t.
I think for us we just band together, we put our heads down, and try to find a way to win and help this
team any way that we can.
It was funny, because even that beginning wasn’t what we wanted it to be, but just watching how he is
and the kind of person he is and how he thinks positively, he was able to battle through that.
I thought that was really impressive. That’s a hard thing to do, and he did a great job of it.
Q. Your defense, obviously another outstanding performance. Can you expand on what they did?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: Day in and day out, they do such a great job. I think with some of the injuries,
also. You know, another guy goes in and steps up. Nik Bonitto comes in there and makes some plays.
Jonathon Cooper gets in there. Kongbo got in there. So I think it’s not just them individually, but as a
group, they’re just bonding together so well.
Justin Simmons having a really good game and K’Waun having that amazing pick at the end. He’s got one
arm, and how you catch that, I still don’t know.
But I think just watching their cohesiveness. A lot of these guys have played together for a minute now,
and so you see that gelling together, which is what I love.
They’re attacking, they’re pressuring, they’re playing covering. It’s really great to see.
Q. In a sport where you’re judged a week at a time —
NATHANIEL HACKETT: It’s going to be a lot better, no doubt. Anytime — and going into a bye, we always
say, be able to have a win going into a bye, you’re very excited.
I’ve always believed that when you win, you get to coach them harder because we have a lot of things
we still have to correct and a lot of things that we still have to get to because we’re not where we want
to be.
This was kind of a step in the right direction because we were able to make that big-time play when we
needed to, both running the ball and in the red zone. We’ve had the red zone issues. We were all in
those situations at the end of the game.
So to see those guys step up, that’s something to build on, but we still so much improvement that we
need to do.
Q. Coach, one of the things was the penalties, 10 in the first half. What changed in the second half and
what are some of the other things —
NATHANIEL HACKETT: We talked about that a little bit at the half, talked with the coaches, told the guys
to settle down. I think the frustrating ones are some of those — whether it be a personal foul or taunting
foul, we’ve got to get that out of the game. We can’t do that. It’s just that simple.
You talk about it. You show it. It’s funny, one of the penalties we actually had a presentation on it on
Friday to explain it and how you can’t do it. In the end, these men are out there and they’re going full
speed and things happen quickly. They don’t mean to cause a penalty, but they do, and we have to
continually point it out.
They have to learn from it, and we can’t do it because, again, those are those self-inflicted wounds, and
we don’t want to keep battling back from those.
Q. Greg Dulcich, can you talk about how dynamic of an entity he is all of a sudden in this offense?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: I’ll tell you, his blocking ability has really helped us because he strains. He’s not a
killer over there. He’s not going to — something you want to major in, but I think his ability to be able to
block in the run game and then his ability to go down the field both vertically and in that intermediate
zone is really impressive. He can catch the ball.
Russ is starting to get a nice flow with him, and he’s got great hair, too, which is always impressive. So I
think watching him come in, especially after not playing football for so long and having to do that, again,
I give him and Jake Moreland, his coach, so much credit on getting him ready to be able to contribute
right away.
Q. Can you expand on the take a breath conversation with Russell?
NATHANIEL HACKETT: We hadn’t had something like that happen to us that early and that quick, both
one three-and-out and in the second play an interception. Just went up to him and just tried to explain,
hey, take what they give you. Don’t force it.
He looked, and it was like he had a big smile on his face. You learn a lot about a quarterback when they
throw a pick, especially early. I’ve had some quarterbacks that go in the tank; I’ve had some
quarterbacks that are like, hey, got that one out of the way.
That’s what you want to see. He got it out of the way early. I’m glad. We didn’t need that later in the
game, and he was able to rebound and come back and make some plays.
BRONCOS QB RUSSELL WILSON
POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2022
Q. With the way the last four weeks have gone, how nice was it to come from behind and pull out a
road win in London?
RUSSELL WILSON: Well, I thought it was huge for us. Obviously to be in London, to come out here this
whole week, it’s been a spectacular week for us. We prepared better than ever, I think. We battled. We
knew we were going against a tough team.
They’ve got a lot of great players and young guys that can really play. I think that was important for us.
But just to overcome, be resilient. Obviously the season hasn’t gone the way we’ve wanted it to, and it’s
not over yet. There’s a lot more to do. There’s a lot more we want to accomplish. But every win counts.
The game didn’t start how we wanted it to, obviously, but to be able to answer back, we were down 10-
0, come down the field, we picked up the tempo a little bit to be able to answer back, then sure enough
defense made another stop, we came back again, we kept swinging.
It was kind of like a heavyweight fight. Just got to keep going, keep swinging, keep getting up. That’s
what we were able to do.
The fans here in London were amazing. Obviously our Broncos fans traveling, they’ve been great all
week for us, just the NFL fans in general. I’ve played here before, once before, and it was amazing
energy, and they matched it again, once again tonight.
What a blessing to be able to go back home with a win that everybody is going to celebrate.
Q. The Jags (indiscernible) one play here or there. You talk about the game-altering plays. You guys
clearly made those tonight. What did you see there?
RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, I mean, I think that we’ve been in every single game. This season could be
completely flipped around, and the only way we can flip it around is ourselves. We’ve got to keep
answering the bell.
I think the thing that happened tonight that was really special, guys were making plays. We changed the
tempo. We went up tempo and knew we had to get going here. We went up and down the field with
that. I think also two guys made some spectacular plays. Dulcich going down the sideline. I think also
Melvin Gordon getting in. The line did a tremendous job on that block down there.
Beck slamming his guy, and then Melvin getting in on that touchdown. Then I think our defense, you
know, Sims coming up with a huge stop. They were up 7-0 and he comes up with a huge pick. That’s a
game changer for us because the score could have been 14-0.
Just we kept believing. I think J Sims and I, he’s standing over here but I think the thing that we keep talk
about is unwavering belief. Unwavering belief, not wavering.
I think — I don’t think, I know, that’s what happened tonight.
I think also, too, when you come back to those plays, I think, like I’ve been saying all year, anytime
you’re playing close tight-knit games, those gap plays, those game altering plays are everything.
KJ, I told him on the sideline, hey, be ready. I’m going to hit you down the field. Sure enough, he ran
right by his guy, hit him down the field, and I think Murray scores again. I think he scored two or three
times here in London this year.
But it was a special game. I’ve got to give credit to the O-linemen, just for us 3rd down conversions I
think Jerry Jeudy early in the second quarter it was he broke away. He caught a big play, next thing you
know we score a touchdown. He scores a touchdown, Jerry Jeudy does.
The 3rd and 1s, the 4th and 1s, all those kind of plays like that to be able to convert those were big in
this game.
Q. Does this feel like a statement win?
RUSSELL WILSON: Well, I think through adversity, adversity is temporary. I’ve never shied away from
pressure. I think that you’ve got to look right at it and keep going and keep believing and stay the
course.
What I do believe is with our team, just catching so many momentum. Every season I’ve ever played
you’ve got to catch momentum. There’s a moment in time where it clicks, and hopefully that’s the start
of it.
But we still — the great thing is we still control our own destiny by how much work we put in and the
dedication we put into this, and a lot of great games ahead. I wouldn’t want it any other way.
Q. …the first quarter, Hackett said he came up to you and said, just take a breath, calm down. How
much did that help you going into the second quarter?
RUSSELL WILSON: Well, you know, when you’re competing, sometimes guys make a play. I don’t blink.
Just to be able to know there’s a lot of game left. We’ve got a great defense, can trust those guys and
just keep balling and just find a way to make those plays.
I think at any time something negative happens, it’s really about how you respond. Do you respond with
frustration? Do you respond with confusion, whatever, or are you able to respond and get clear really
quickly?
For me playing all these years, you know when there’s ups and downs, to be able to respond with clarity
and just focus on the fundamentals, focus on the first step, focus on the rhythm and the timing and
everybody making plays.
It was a great team effort tonight.
Q. You lead the team in high knee exercises?
RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, I got high knees on the 3rd down. We got one of those. While the guys are
playing Uno I think we all have to — no, I think more than anything else, I think I want to play with these
guys, man, every time we get a chance to step on the field.
How hard these guys work every morning, how hard we all go after it every day, it’s about playing.
Anytime you get this gift of playing this game, you do anything and everything to make sure you’re out
on the field.
Q. You’re wearing a local jersey. Any advice for them going through adversity?
RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, I watched the game last night. Obviously Liverpool is one of the best soccer
teams in the world. Just being able to watch them over the years States always kind of whenever they’re
on, always put it on the TV. Shoutout to Liverpool.
Q. When the ball is on the 2-yard line start of the second half, good time to catch momentum there?
RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, we went into the huddle and told the guys, hey, listen, we are going to go 98
yards right now. Believe in it. Believe in it. Believe in it.
First play, Dulcich makes a great catch, gets 15, 20 yards. Next thing you know we caught that
momentum and just went all the way down the field. That was a huge drive for us.
You know, the defense gives us a lot of belief that we can do that, too, because they’re doing everything
they can to get the ball back for us. That was really key.
Q. (Indiscernible) describe your connection.
RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, he’s been really special. When I first threw the ball to him the first day — you
known when you’ve thrown as many footballs as I’ve thrown for as many years as you’ve thrown it, the
first three throws you can tell, okay, he’s got it. There’s something to it.
He’s definitely got some freakish ability. Obviously he was out for a while, the first several weeks, few
weeks, but to get his ability and catching the football like he can and all the things he can do is great.
Q. You’ve been with the team for a few days here in London. You know London well. Is there one
thing you’ve learnt as an individual or about the team in the time you’ve been away? People always
talk like it’s a mini training camp —
RUSSELL WILSON: Yeah, I think the first thing that we did on that Tuesday night when we got in, we all
had dinner together. We kind of went out, just kind of let loose a little bit and just had some fun.
I think that was kind of the kick start, I believe, to just a great week. We had a good time, guys had a
great time laughing, enjoying it. Just the gift of playing this game, it doesn’t last forever, so to be able to
do it with guys that you love, guys that you care about, that’s what matters most.
I think that allowed us to have a really great week of practice, and coach Hackett did a great job of
allowing us to get our bodies adjusted this whole week and just kind of get going.
And then Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, we just kept soaring throughout the week, and obviously
Sunday we came up with a huge win.
BRONCOS LB JUSTIN STRNAD
POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2022
Q. How big was it to get this win, especially going into a bye week?
JUSTIN STRNAD: Yeah, it was huge. Heading into the bye we are getting some guys back, guys that are
banged up halfway point of the season, and it’s going to be huge for us. Everyone talks about how wins
are momentum builders, and for heading into the bye this was a huge one. We talked about how this is
a must-win for us, and how we got the win.
For us moving forward, it’s building on this, getting some guys back healthy, and continuing to find ways
to win the second half of the season.
Q. Justin, the interception take me through that play.
JUSTIN STRNAD: Yeah, obviously they were driving there, and for me, just thinking about we kind of —
they played really well, but we also gave them some of the yards. I know I had that taunting. We had — I
think, they gave Pat that holding PI call. I don’t know what it was. We got another holding on our side,
on the left side of the defense.
You know, saw him rolling out. I’m just hoping there’s a chance I can maybe bat the ball. A guy gets their
hand on it. Really he when plays like that happen, it’s a nod to the whole defense; guys are doing their
job. He’s holding the ball. He’s trying to make something happen. There’s a momentum swing. They can
go up 14-0.
He felt the pressure with the boot and guys were sticking in coverage and there was just an opportunity
to make a play on the ball. It’s really hats off to all 11 guys that were in on that play. It doesn’t happen
without all those guys doing their job.
Q. Are you looking forward to the bye or would you rather jump right back in?
JUSTIN STRNAD: That’s a good question. A little bit of both. Obviously when you have a momentum like
this, you win, you’re feeling good, you head into practices with confidence, you head into the game plan
with confidence, and the thing I like most about this game was it was a complete team effort. I thought
special teams did a heck of a job all day tackling in space.
There was that stretch there where 14-10, offense stalling a little bit, defense was able to get some
stops and we just kept going back and forth. Unfortunately they went down and scored. They went up
but then offense answered right back. We went back up, and then defense you have to go out there, get
a big time stop. K’Waun first play, pick. That’s what good football teams do. They find ways to win
games. That’s what I’m the most proud of.
And so kind of went on a tangent there and didn’t really answer your question, but I think the bye is
going to be good to get some guys back.
Q. There have been guys who took it hard. You took it hard. How exciting is this?
JUSTIN STRNAD: Yeah, it’s huge. I told them last time, this is my seventh season. 9-7 is the best I’ve
been, no playoff berths.
I wouldn’t say I hurt more than anyone else, but it hurts not to find ways to win. Obviously a lot of
expectations, but the season is not over, as well. You know what? Raw emotions after a game happen.
24-hour rule. You throw that away, you move on, and I’m just proud of the guys. Coaches, players, the
way we rally together as a team.
Like Russ said, I think the whole team showed up Tuesday night. It wasn’t mandatory, like the dinner we
had, and that just shows guys care, and that goes a long way.
I’m proud of this team, man. I’m proud of the way we battled. We’re going to have to find ways to
continue to do that and find ways to win the rest of the year.
Q. Justin, (indiscernible) interceptions is a hard thing to do. With K’Waun, this thing he has on his arm,
he’s able to be out there and do, including coming up with a game-sealing interception.
JUSTIN STRNAD: Yeah, K is a baller. It’s funny, because he told us earlier. I don’t even remember what
quarter it was, but they ran that out route and he had a big pass breakup on 1st down. I don’t know if
was the same exact play, but they ran it and we came to the sideline and he says, dog, they throw that
again I’m going to pick it. A lot of us say that throughout the game.
But it was cool because it happened again. I don’t know how many times it happened before he picked
it, but he picked it when it mattered.
That’s just kudos to him. Film study, the preparation, trusting your guys. I just think he did such a great
job making that read. That was obviously a big-time play. It won us the game, and offense was able to
close it out. Complete team effort there.
Man, it was a heck of a way to end it.
Q. What did you make of the London experience as a whole?
JUSTIN STRNAD: Yeah, London was cool, man. For me, I relish moments like this for two reasons. One, I
just take it in and I just am so thankful where football has just placed just me personally in my life — like
I’m able to travel to London for work and literally experience a different culture, different lifestyle, all
while building the second part, camaraderie with my team.
I’m able to hang out with different guys during the week. We’re going to grab something to eat. We’re
trying to learn the lingo. We joke about it a lot.
I think those are the things that I won’t take for granted. When I’m done playing years down the road,
those are the things that I’ll remember. Obviously I’ll remember we won. That was great. But those are
the things that I’ll remember.
I’m just so thankful for God and just the opportunity to be able to do things like this.
Q. Your baby boy is due in a matter of days, weeks. How nice is it that your wife was able to keep him
cooking and how excited are you for what very easily could happen while you’re on the bye week?
JUSTIN STRNAD: Yeah, no, she’s the real MVP. Holding down the fort, that’s not easy. I know we’re here
to talk about football, but while we’re on the subject of my wife, two daughters, 4 and 1, and then days
away, maybe a week away from having our son, our first son.
Her holding down the fort, man, and like I said, if she were to have had our boy throughout this week,
I’m going home. I’m not missing my first son’s birth.
Just so thankful for her, man, and the people around us that have helped us and helped keep her off her
feet. It’s just a blessing. I can’t wait for that. It’s going to be such an exciting moment for us and our
family, and I love you, Tarin (phonetic).
BRONCOS WR JERRY JEUDY
POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2022
Q. How did you like today’s game? Is this one of your best games in a while?
JERRY JEUDY: As a unit, I mean, I feel like we could have did a lot more things better. In the beginning I
think we started off kind of slow, but over the time going on, we started picking up a little bit, started to
find our rhythm. With that, I feel like — we ended with a win, so that’s the biggest thing for real.
Q. J, what allowed you guys to find that (indiscernible) first quarter?
JERRY JEUDY: Second half just going over the adjustments, just the coaches having a good game plan,
understanding what the defense was doing and just attacking them. I feel like we did a good job of that
part.
Q. Talk about the 98-yard drive. How big was that to settle you guys down a little bit?
JERRY JEUDY: Oh, that was big. We was down, so that 98-yard drive, we needed that to be able to get
back in the game.
The way Russ drove down the field and had the offense execute each play, that was a big part of the
game.
Q. Do you think it helped the team relax a little bit?
JERRY JEUDY: No, we was never relaxed when we was down — we was relaxed but we were still trying to
keep our foot on the pedal and just keep executing our plays and playing fast and keep doing what we’re
doing.
Q. Going into a bye week with a win like this, how does it feel?
JERRY JEUDY: It feels great, especially coming off a four-game losing streak, then winning this game in
London. It’s a big win. Now we’re just going to have to use this bye week to focus on what we’ve got to
do better and just execute from there.
Q. What did you make of the Broncos’ fans turning up here in London?
JERRY JEUDY: Oh, I didn’t know we had that much Broncos fans in London. We appreciate them coming
out supporting us, and great to have this W.
Q. What have you made of the London experience as a whole?
JERRY JEUDY: Oh, I mean, I love London. Just coming out here, just learning the different culture around
the world and stuff, coming here to London, I’ve definitely got to come back here again for sure.
BRONCOS DE DRE’MONT JONES
POSTGAME MEDIA AVAILABILITY
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 30, 2022
Q. Defense has been outstanding all year. How nice was it for the offense to (indiscernible)?
DRE’MONT JONES: Yeah, they work so hard. Things haven’t always gone their way clearly. After that
losing streak we’ve been having, it’s good to see them really hold the game down. They helped us out
more than we helped them this game.
Q. How will you spend the bye week?
DRE’MONT JONES: Chilling, man. There’s nothing else to do.
Q. After a frustrating (indiscernible) you had a pretty good vertical leap there at the end of the game.
DRE’MONT JONES: I had a pretty good vertical leap?
Q. I thought you jumped pretty good.
DRE’MONT JONES: When did I jump?
Q. Right when the game ended.
DRE’MONT JONES: I don’t even remember. I jumped? What? I need some turmeric and some peanut
butter. I’m tripping; I don’t remember that.
Q. (No microphone.)
DRE’MONT JONES: They did a lot of runs to the perimeter, and they did a lot of different style runs,
same side. Usually with teams, the runs that are happening are usually like one-timers and they ended
up being like five-timers, and they hit us a bit. We’ve got to be better on that end, along with some
missed tackling, not great pursuit angles, and I’m also going to blame the field a little bit, too. We were
slipping a little bit.
Q. There was some flow, there was some nice coordination between offense and defense. You had a
red zone turnover, you had a turnover to close the game out, offense was doing some really good
things. It must have been nice to have some complementary football.
DRE’MONT JONES: Yeah, man, when offense and defense comes hand in hand like that, you’re expected
to win games like that. A lot of those situations we can get our quarterback out there to run it down and
come back in the fourth quarter and do his thing. Today was huge for that.
I think going into the bye week it should be a huge momentum shift for both sides of the team, including
special teams. We snapped that losing streak. That losing streak, like many of our fans probably, was
getting on my nerves, too, so it was huge to win this game and then take a little break.
Q. What did you think of the crowd? A few Broncos fans out there but almost 90,000 people. How did
that compare to a typical game?
DRE’MONT JONES: Not to be a little big-headedish, but I used to get that in college all the time. So it was
like, oh, cool, like college again. I haven’t had that in a couple years where you’ve got like damn near
90,000 fans were there. It was cool to be reminded how it used to be.
