USF Softball’s Corrick Named CoSIDA Softball Academic All-America Team Member of the Year

Corrick is USF’s first three-time CoSIDA Academic All-American and earns softball’s seventh honor

TAMPA, June 7, 2022 – University of South Florida pitcher Georgina Corrick continues to earn honors in her final year of collegiate eligibility, this time showcasing her talents in the classroom by being named a CoSIDA Academic All-American and the Academic All-America of the Year award winner for Division I softball.

“Georgina not only has shown the world how good of an athlete she is on the field but now, this recognition of her ‘student-athlete’ status legitimizes her legacy as one of, if not the greatest, student-athletes to ever attend USF,” head coach Ken Eriksen said.

Corrick is USF’s first student-athlete to earn Academic All-America honors three times in her collegiate career and the first Bull to be named the Academic All-America of the Year award winner. Her mark is the seventh for the softball program, the most of any team on campus.

In order to be eligible, student-athletes need at least a 3.30 GPA and need to be a starter or a significant reserve on their team. The award is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Corrick graduated with her bachelor’s degree in marine biology with minors in psychology and environmental policy in 2021 and is currently pursuing a master’s degree in global sustainability. The Great Britain National Team member is now a three-time Academic All-American, with this year’s first team honors joining another first team selection in 2019-2020 and a third team honor in 2020-21.

Corrick’s Academic All-America honors join a myriad of on-the-field accolades. She was named a first team All-American by NFCA, D1Softball and Softball America. Her third selection to the NFCA All-America teams is just the second three-time All-American in program history.

Corrick also earned her fourth American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year honors in 2022, becoming the first pitcher in conference history to earn the award in all four eligible seasons.

In her senior season, she threw a 37-5 record with a 0.51 ERA and 418 strikeouts. She currently leads the country in ERA, innings pitched (274.1), shutouts (21), strikeout-to-walk ratio (12.29), strikeouts and victories.

Winning the conference pitcher of the week award a record nine times and national pitcher of the week twice, she threw two perfect games and a no-hitter in the 2022 campaign, bringing her career total to eight solo no-hitters/nine total

She threw 88.1 consecutive scoreless innings, which brought her ERA down to 0.06 after 118 innings on the year. The streak is the seventh longest in NCAA history.
