* Florida is at No. 1 Florida State Thursday. The Seminoles are 4-0 so far this season, with their most recent win (2-1 at Colorado) coming in the team’s only road contest so far of 2021.
* Florida Gulf Coast (1-2) plays host to the Gators for the first time in the all-time series. All previous meetings came in Gainesville.

Last Time Gators-FSU Met:
UF and FSU last met for a match on Sept. 6, 2019 in Tallahassee, as the Gators saw an early lead evaporate for a 2-1 loss. This the Florida’s third consecutive trip to Tallahassee (2017, 2018, 2019) as the usual home-away rotation was disrupted due to the impact of Hurricane Hermine on the Tallahassee area in 2016. The two teams did meet for an exhibition in Gainesville late in February 2021, playing to a scoreless tie.
Last Time Gators-FGCU Played:
Florida and Florida Gulf Coast have played six times, with all meetings in Gainesville. The last meeting was Sept. 12, 2019 (4-0 win) with two scoring their first Gator goals to give UF a 3-0 halftime lead – Vanessa Kara (2) and Kouri Peace. Parker Roberts scored the final goal in the 71st minute.

About this Week’s Gator Opponents:
Florida State
Florida State swept through fall 2020 Atlantic Coast Conference play with an 8-0 record and was the 2020-21 NCAA Tournament’s No. 1 seed. The Seminoles were unbeaten in 2020-21, with a 13-0-3 record. The three ties all came in FSU’s final three NCAA Tournament matches, including the NCAA title contest. Santa Clara and FSU played to a 1-all tie and Santa Clara claimed the 2020 title with 4-1 penalty kick advantage.
In 2021, FSU is 4-0 and has outscored opponents 11-1. Senior Jaelin Howell claimed the 2020-21 Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) Hermann Trophy as last season’s top collegiate player. Joining her on 2021 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch list are senior teammates Emily Madril and Yujie Zhao. The Seminoles roster includes senior Gabby Carle, a member of Canada’s 2020 Olympic gold medal team.
Florida Gulf Coast
Florida Gulf Coast took second in the 2020-21 Atlantic Sun Conference South Division with a 4-2 league record. The Eagles are picked third for the 2021 league campaign. UF is FGCU’s second Southeastern Conference opponent, as the Eagles opened with a 6-0 loss at Tennessee. Weather and travel time limitations canceled the Aug. 29 Loyola-Chicago at FGCU match. The Eagles play at Florida International on Wednesday before returning home to play host to the Gators.
Four Eagles have scored a goal this season – Courtney Coleman, Ashley Labbe, Louise Lillback and Grace Paradis. Sophomore Kajsa Lang and Lillback both appear on the ASUN Preseason All-Conference team.
