MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Sunshine State Conference officially released its Spring 2021 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, presented by Barnes & Noble College, on Thursday as an impressive 115 student-athletes were recognized from Nova Southeastern, 14 of which earned a perfect 4.0 GPA.
Overall, 1,738 student-athletes across the league were named to the list, including a notable 353 with semester-long GPAs of 4.0. The 2021 numbers mark the second time in which the SSC has placed over 1,700 total student-athletes and 350 with perfect GPAs on the Spring Honor Roll, trailing only the record of 1,819 and 517 set a year ago.
This past semester, NSU student-athletes posted a department-wide GPA of 3.44 – the best semester on record – to go along with the 3.41 GPA from the fall to deliver a new program-record 3.42 GPA for the 2020-21 academic year.
To be eligible for the Spring SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, a student-athlete must post a minimum GPA of 3.2 on a scale of 4.0. Participants in the sports of men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s rowing, baseball, and softball are eligible for the Spring Honor Roll.
Having won 113 Division II National Championships since the league was founded in 1975, SSC student-athletes have proven successful in competition in addition to the classroom. Recently, the SSC achieved an Academic Success Rate of 86 percent for the 10th consecutive year.
