TAMPA, NOV. 11, 2020 – University of South Florida head men’s basketball coach Brian Gregory announced on Wednesday that Trey Moss (Windermere, Fla.) has signed a National Letter of Intent on the first day of the early signing period.
A 6-foot-3 point guard at Windermere High School, Moss is a three-star prospect who chose USF over Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Dayton and Temple. He is ranked as the No. 2 point guard and the 17th-best player in the state of Florida in the class of 2021 by Florida Hoops recruiting services.
Moss is also ranked as high as the No. 22 point guard in the nation by Corey Evans of Roundball Rundown.
During his junior season, Moss averaged 13.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.2 assists and nearly two steals in leading the Wolverines to a 21-9 overall record and a state tournament appearance following a victory over Wharton High School in the Class 7A region semifinals. He was selected to the 7A All State Third Team at the conclusion of the season.
Moss was also a member of Team Florida Hoops on the AAU circuit and was recently invited to Coach Wootten Basketball Camp’s Top 150 Showcase McDonald’s All-American Evaluation Event.
Moss poured in 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game and helped Windermere reach the state tournament as a sophomore during the 2018-19 season.
“We recognized early in the recruiting process that Trey was an elite level guard, an elite level student and an elite level young man,” Gregory said. “We made him a priority from day one, and we felt it was very, very important to bring him into our program because of the immediate impact he would make. Trey has tremendous speed, great ball skills and can really put the ball in the basket. Every day Trey continues to improve, and I think Trey has a bright future in our program.”
USF is expected to announce its complete 2020-21 schedule in the coming weeks. The Bulls have already announced matchups against Rhode Island and Virginia Tech in the Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament and LSU at the Holiday Hoopsgiving event.
