2023 NFL Owls – Week 14

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Week 13 of the 2023 NFL season is in the books with five former Florida Atlantic Owls seeing action. Here’s a rundown of how each performed during the 13th week (All gametimes listed below are Eastern):

#2 Azeez Al-Shaair | LB | Tennessee Titans
–  Playing near his old stomping grounds of FAU Stadium, Al-Shaair led the way for the Titans’ defense in a road matchup against the Miami Dolphins with a game-high 10 tackles, He is now up to 124 on the season, seventh in the NFL. Al-Shaair set the tone for a defense that came up with big stops in the come-from-behind 28-27 victory.

#88 Harrison Bryant | TE | Cleveland Browns
– Bryant made his second straight start and seventh on the season in Cleveland’s 31-27 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars. He finished the day with 27 snaps on offense and 18 on special teams.
Browns’ Record: 8-5
Next Game: vs. Chicago – Sunday, 1 p.m. (FOX)

#91 Trey Hendrickson | DE | Cincinnati Bengals
– Needing a game-wrecker on defense to help keep the Bengals’ playoff hopes alive, Trey Hendrickson stepped up and then some. He took down the opposing QB twice to up his season sack total to 13.5, tied for third in the league. Now recording at least half a sack in 11 out of 13 games, the always underrated Hendrickson is finally beginning to receive national recognition.

Next Game: vs. Indianapolis – Sunday, 1 p.m. (CBS) 

#1 Greg Joseph | K | Minnesota Vikings
– In the end, the Minnesota Vikings’ win over the Las Vegas Raiders was decided solely on the leg of Joseph, who provided the game’s only score. The always-clutch kicker came through with a 36-yard field goal with just under two minutes to go to seal the 3-0 victory.
Vikings’ Record: 7-6
Next Game: at Cincinnati – Saturday, 1 p.m. (NFLN)

#26 Devin Singletary | RB | Houston Texans
– It was another day for “Motor” as Houston’s lead back, recording 13 carries for an efficient 65 yards. He was ultimately responsible for the Texans’ lone score of the day in a 30-6 loss to the New York Jets, punching the ball in for the touchdown as time expired in the third quarter.
Texans’ Record: 7-6

#42 James Pierre | CB | Pittsburgh Steelers
– Pierre was inactive in Pittsburgh’s 21-18 loss to the New England Patriots.

#73 Brandon Walton | OT | Tampa Bay Buccaneers
– Walton was inactive in the Buccaneers’ 29-25 win over the divisional rival Atlanta Falcons.
