2019 FAU Women’s Soccer Schedule Released

BOCA RATON, Fla. – (July 3, 2019) – The Florida Atlantic University women’s soccer team begins the 2019 campaign in late August, and the slate features 10 opportunities this fall to see the squad at home.

The Owls, coming off a share of the Conference USA regular season crown, returns 14 upperclassmen to the pitch, the majority of which will be finishing up a four-year career as part of one of the program’s most heralded and decorated recruiting classes. The season will begin at FAU Stadium, the on-campus football facility, as the Owls host an opponent there for the fourth straight season. This year, it’s Florida at 7 p.m. on Aug. 23.

After a Sunday matchup hosting Grand Canyon, the team will head to nearby Coral Gables to face Miami (Aug. 29) and travel west the same weekend to take on the Kansas Jayhawks, who feature former Owls’ assistant coach Laura Jackson, on Sept. 1. Three more home non-conference matchups leads the squad into C-USA play, with the lidlifter against Marshall on FAU’s home pitch on Sept. 19. The final out-of-league contest is also out west, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, against Oral Roberts the following week (Sept. 26).

“We are excited about the opportunities presented to us this fall and our players will face a number of quality teams for the first time,” said head coach Patrick Baker. “Our opening weekend in FAU Stadium is always a great environment with nationally-ranked Florida visiting Boca Raton to start the 2019 campaign on Friday, Aug. 23. The team will enjoy five of eight non-conference games at home and we have made our venue a tough place to come to. We feel these games will prepare us well for the grueling C-USA campaign.”

Following Oral Roberts, it’s five out of six league tilts on the road, at UAB (Sept. 29), Louisiana Tech (Oct. 4), Southern Miss (Oct. 6), Old Dominion (Oct. 17) and Middle Tennessee (Oct. 20). In that span, the only match at home is against UTSA, on Friday, Oct. 11.

The season ends with three at home, hosting North Texas (Oct. 25), Rice (Oct. 27) and FIU (Nov. 2). The week after, the 2019 C-USA Championship will be hosted by North Texas in Denton, from Nov. 6 to Nov. 10.

“The C-USA season will again be challenging and we have to do some road work early, with five of the first seven games being on the road and all double game weekends. We kick off on Thursday, Sept. 19, against Marshall at home before heading out on the road versus UAB, Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss. All three of those places are tough to play at, and we will have to be in great form to get a positive result. Having three home games down the stretch will be nice and hopefully we can make another run at the regular season title.”
