October 6, 2019

POST-GAME NOTES

• The Red Wings overcame a 2-0 first-period deficit to improve to 2-0-0 this season.

• Detroit has points in seven-straight home openers (6-0-1) and has won nine of its last 11 home openers overall (9-1-1), with an overall mark of 52-31-9-1.

• Anthony Mantha scored all of Detroit’s four goals, marking his second-career hat trick (first was March 31, 2019 vs. Boston), the first natural hat trick (three consecutive goals by the same player) for Detroit since Henrik Zetterberg on March 19, 2008 vs. Colum- bus, the first four-goal game for the Red Wings since Johan Franzen had five (April 2, 2011 at Ottawa) and the first four-goal game on home ice since Brendan Shanahan (March 15, 2001 vs. Calgary).

• Mantha has seven points (5-2-7) in his first two games this season, continuing a productive stretch that began at the end of the 2018-19 season. Including the final eight games of 2018-19, Mantha has 22 points (13-9-22) in his last 10 regular-season games and continues to be the NHL’s highest-scoring player over that stretch (March 23-present).

• Mantha has also scored in three-consecutive regular-season games (April 6-present), which matches his longest career goal streak (three games from Oct. 31-Nov. 5, 2017).

• Per NHL Stats and Information, Mantha is the sixth player in franchise history to score a hat trick in the team’s home opener, but the third to do so in the last five years, joining Mike Green (2016), Justin Abdelkader (2015), Brendan Shanahan (1998), Adam Brown (1945) and John Sorrell (who also scored four in 1933).

• Mantha is the first Red Wings player to score all of the team’s goals in a victory with more than four goals scored since Sergei Fe- dorov scored all five goals in a 5-4 overtime win over Washington on Dec. 26, 1996.

• Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi each picked up assists, extending their own streaks over their last 10 regular-season games. Bertuzzi has 18 points (7-11-18) since March 23, and Larkin has 15 points (6-9-15).

• The line of Bertuzzi, Larkin and Mantha has combined for 55 points in its last 10 regular-season games.

• Filip Hronek picked up two assists for his fifth career multi-point game and has nine points (2-7-9) in his last 10 games dating back to the end of 2018-19.

• Trevor Daley exited the game in the first period due to a lower-body injury.
