#13 FAU Beach Volleyball Extends Winning Streak to 10

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (March 7, 2020) –  The 13th-ranked Florida Atlantic University beach volleyball team had its winning streak reach double-digits with a pair of wins at the Battle of the Bay on Saturday. The Sandy Owls are 11-1 on the year and have won 10 matches in a row.

Match 1 vs. Tampa

Erica Brok and Mackenzie Morris withstood a tough challenge on court one to take a 21-19, 21-16 victory. On court two, Savannah Pesante and Ellie Austin won the first set 21-13, but lost the second before taking the third 15-11.  Kaila Dorish and Courtney Moon won the first set at no. 3, but couldn’t hold off a Spartan rally, ultimately dropping the decisive frame 15-11. Jillenne Cangelosi and Sam Gott split a pair of thrilling sets on court four, then managed a 15-10 win in set three to earn the decision. On court five, Maylin Bouffard and Megan Mcgrath took a straight set victory, 21-14, 21-18

Match 2 vs. Florida Southern

In their first match at the top of the order, Pesante and Austin notched an impressive 21-7, 21-16 win. Dorish and Moon bounced back from their loss earlier in the day to sweep court two by the score of 21-7, 21-12. On court three, Cangelosi and Gott recorded their team-leading 11th win of the season, 21-16, 21-16. At no. 4, Bouffard and McGrath were extended to three sets before prevailing 15-9 in the decisive frame. For the second day in a row, McGrath and Farris swept their match on court five, 21-16, 21-14. Abby Jackson and Jamie Wood teamed up for a straight set victory on the exhibition court.
