WTEN | Undefeated Owls Move Up to No. 27

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic’s women’s tennis team, the only undefeated team in the nation, moved up to No. 27 following three road victories last week and saw the doubles duo of Malwina Rowinska and Lara Smejkal break into the national ranks at No. 87, announced the ITA on Tuesday.
The Owls hold a record of 14-0 heading into this weekend’s match versus FIU, scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, April 12. Rowinska, a newcomer to the program, has a team-leading singles record of 13-4 on the season and has a 12-1 dual match record, but more importantly Rowinska has worked with Smejkal to build a 12-1 dual match doubles record, all on court one for their No. 87 ranking. The duo is just two of the Owls that are enjoying an outstanding season.
As a team, FAU is 50-9 in singles play with seniors Lexi Silna, who is 11-0 on the year and 10-0 in dual match play, and Millie-Mae Matthews, who has an 8-1 dual match record while providing the leadership. Victoria Gomez O’Hayon has primarily played court one and holds a 5-3 record while Panna Bartha is 9-3 on the year.

The Owls will wrap up the 2024-25 regular season with a home contest on Saturday, April 12 at 11 a.m. It will be the Owls’ final home contest and prior to first serve, the program will celebrate two fourth-year seniors: Millie-Mae Matthews and Lexi Silna.No. 27 Ranking Malwina Rowinska and Lara Smejkal
