WTEN: Miami Earns 4-0 Sweep Against Wake Forest

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team (9-9, 4-5) shut out the No. 36 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (14-9, 3-6) on Friday afternoon at the Neil Schiff Tennis Center.

The Hurricanes took the doubles point and dominated on three straight courts for the sweep.

On court three, Daria Volosova and Maria Vargas earned the 6-0 shutout over Anna Zhang and Whitley Pate before Raquel Gonzalez and Alexa Noel clinched the doubles point against Krystal Blanch and Makayla Mills, 6-2, at the top court.

Miami struck first in singles as Vargas took court five, 6-4, 6-2, over Mills, while Volosova secured the 6-4, 6-4 win over Jingyi Li at court six to extend the lead. No. 96 Gonzalez then clinched the win with a 7-5, 6-4 victory against Blanch on court two.

The Hurricanes will stay home to host NC State for the final home match on April 6.
