FORT WORTH – UAB’s defense came up big in its 0-0 draw at TCU on Thursday night. Leading up to the match, the Horned Frogs were receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Poll and were ranked as high as No. 9 earlier this season.
Despite being outshot 18-3, the Blazers (2-2-1) did not let anything past keeper Anika Toth, who made three saves. Toth came up big in the 1st half, stopping Gracie Brian, Camryn Lancaster and Marli Galdamez all from close range.
In the 2nd half, the Horned Frogs (1-2-1) fired 14 shots at Toth, but could not find the back of the net as the backline was constantly able to close in on the TCU attackers.
Up next, the Blazers stay in Texas to face Stephen F. Austin Sept. 3. The next home match is against Tennessee Tech Sept. 7.

Blazer Buddies is the new official kids club of UAB Athletics and is open to all kids ages 12 and under. Blazer Buddies will receive a Blazer Buddies Kids Club ID which grants admission to all home men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball, women’s basketball, softball, and baseball games. Blazer Buddies Kids Club members will also be eligible for discounted tickets to the UAB football game versus Louisiana on Sept. 16 and select men’s basketball games.
