9/19/2024 | Women’s Soccer | Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic’s women’s soccer team recorded their first American Athletic Conference win of the season against Charlotte on Thursday evening with a 2-1 victory. The Owls improve their record to 2-5-2 on the season and 1-1-0 in conference play. Florida Atlantic is now 8-2-3 all-time against the 49ers. Senior Emmy Schleifer started it off early for the Owls with her first goal of the season in the first six minutes of the match from a free kick. It was her first goal as an Owl and the second of her collegiate career. For the second time this season, Florida Atlantic took the lead in the first half. In the 22nd minute of the match, junior defender Daniella Diaz scored the first goal of her career to extend the lead for Florida Atlantic. On Diaz’s goal, forward Olivia Bori recorded her first assist of the season (seventh of her career). For the first time this season, the Owls scored two goals in the first 45 minutes of the match.In the second half, the 49ers scored a goal to cut their deficit to 2-1 with 10 minutes left. Senior captain Lexi Gonzalez started in the net for the Owls on the night. Gonzalez allowed one goal and improved her career saves to 120, only seven away from being ninth in program history. On the season, she has totaled 17 saves thus far.
