Women’s Tennis – Sharks Ranked Second In ITA Coaches’ Poll

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced the preseason Top 25 Coaches’ Poll on Wednesday afternoon. The reigning NCAA Division II National Champion Nova Southeastern Sharks, under the direction of Head Coach Doug Neagle, begin the 2025 season ranked second poll.

“I can’t wait to get this season started. After our special season last year, culminating in the national championship, we know we have a target on our back,” said Neagle. “This is a new, hungry group that I’m confident will embrace this challenge. We lost a lot of players from last years team and we are a younger team, but I like the way this group is coming together. Fortunately, one of our leaders from last year, but Freya Davies has returned as our graduate assistant coach. She will be an asset for these ladies and can share a lot of experience.”

NSU is one of six Sunshine State Conference teams in the ITA’s initial rankings, as the Sharks are joined by No. 1 Barry, No. 3 Lynn, No. 4 Embry-Riddle, No. 15 Saint Leo and No. 20 Tampa.

The Sharks won a program record 27 games during their run to the first NCAA Division II national championship in team history during the 2024 season.

No. 2 Nova Southeastern returns to the courts on Saturday, February 1st, hosting Ave Maria at the NSU Tennis Complex at Rolling Hills. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m. To stay up-to-date on Sharks Women’s Tennis, be sure to follow on Instagram & X at NSU_WTennis.
