BOCA RATON, Fla. – Lynn University’s Ulyana Grib has been recognized by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) as its 2020 South Region Senior Player of the Year.
Grib earned 2020 First Team All-America honors in doubles with her partner, Valeriya Pogrebnyak, as the duo finished 8-0 at the No. 1 doubles spot and was ranked third overall in the South Region. Grib also held an unblemished 6-0 record at No. 1 singles, ranked 16th-nationally.
The senior concludes her career in the Blue and White with a 27-2 record at singles and 33-1 record in doubles. She was also recognized as an All-American in both singles and doubles in 2019, cementing her place as a three-time All-American.
A native of Minsk, Belarus, she is the third-straight and fifth-overall Fighting Knight woman to claim ITA Regional Senior Player of the Year honors. Leolia Jeanjean and Klaudia Boczova both earned the same recognition in 2019 and 2018, respectively, joining Masha Bayser (2005) and Maria Alves (2002) on this distinguished list.
All regional award winners, including Grib, will now be pushed forward for a vote on the ITA National Awards. The national winners of the awards will be announced next Tuesday, May 26 at 11 a.m. ET during a special virtual awards ceremony. The awards ceremony can be viewed on the ITA’s Twitter, Facebook, and Youtube.
