Women’s Golf Places Three Members on the 2022-23 WGCA All-American Scholar Team

TAMPA, FLA., July 7, 2023 – Three Bulls have been named to the 2022-23 WGCA All-American Scholar Team, Juliana Camargo, Lauren Heinlein, and Leonor Medeiros. All three also earned academic All-District honors.  

To be selected, a student-athlete must have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher, be an amateur and on the team’s roster through the conclusion of the team’s season and have played in 50% of the college’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team’s conference championship. 

 
Sophomore Camargo (Bogata, Columbia) had her best season as a Bull with a scoring average of 73.66. Camargo posted three Top 10 finishes.

Heinlein (Ocala, Fla), a graduate student, posted three Top 10 finishes and recorded the Bulls’ second-best scoring average, 73.09. Heinlein was second on the team with 15 rounds of par or better and six rounds in the 60’s.

A sophomore, Medeiros (Palmela, Portugal) recorded her best season at USF with a scoring average of 74.03. Medeiros posted her first Top 10 finish in leading the Bulls to a fourth-place finish at the Chattanooga Classic.

The Bulls are in their sixth season under head coach Erika Brennan in 2022-23. USF is among the fastest rising programs in the country, as they climbed 75 spots in the national Golfstat rankings following Brennan’s first season in 2018-19 and have captured three tournament titles under Brennan, while setting numerous program scoring records under her leadership. Junior standout Melanie Green has been an all-conference performer in each of her first two seasons, reached the 2022 NCAA Regionals as an individual and competed in both the U.S. Women’s Open and U.S. Women’s Amateur championships.
