Women’s Golf – #3 Sharks in Striking Distance after Second Round at NCAA Regionals

CLEVELAND, TN. – The third-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Golf team finished play at the second round at the NCAA South Super Regional on Tuesday afternoon. The Sharks (+18/297/297) currently sit tied for fifth place with Saint Leo in a battle for the final spot for qualification to the NCAA National Championship. Ellen Ramstedt (T1/+3/76/71) and Ellen Andersson (T13/+3/71/76) lead NSU after two rounds of action.

How it Happened
  • Ellen Ramstedt jumped 16 spots up the leader board in the second round. Ramstedt began her day with a pair of birdies and five pars. Following the turn, Ramstedt bogeyed two of the first three holes, but responded with three consecutive birdies and closed the round with a pair of pars. 
  • Ellen Andersson tallied six pars to begin the round and following the turn totaled another six pars, as well as a birdie. Andersson recorded five bogeys on the day, finishing the afternoon with a 76. 
  • Jimena Marques recorded one of her two birdies to begin the second round and ended the day with her second consecutive day shooting a 75. 
  • Maia Samuelsson added a pair of birdies on the day, ending the round with a 77. 
  • Haruka Muta added three birdies and 12 pars for the Sharks, moving four spots up the leader board with a 75 in the second round. 
What's Next

Nova Southeastern will tee off the final round of the NCAA South Super Regional at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8th, at the Cleveland Country Club. The top five finishing teams from the NCAA Super South Regional Tournament will advance to the NCAA National Championship beginning on May 21st at the Orange County National Golf Center and Lodge.
