Women’s Golf – #3 NSU Begins Play at NCAA National Tournament

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – The third-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Golf team begin play at the NCAA National Championship on Tuesday afternoon. Following the first round of action, NSU (+11) is tied for 12th place in the 18-team field. Ellen Andersson (E) finished the first round inside the top-20 of the standings.

How it Happened

  • Ellen Andersson began the NCAA National Championship tournament with seven consecutive pars, before adding a birdie on seven. Following a bogey on the eighth hole, Andersson tallied 10 straight pars, finishing the round at an even-par. 
  • Haruka Muta opened the tournament with a bogey and a double bogey, but responded with pars on four-of-six holes, while adding two birdies, to close the front-nine. Following the turn, Muta bogeyed back-to-back holes but closed the round strong with five straight pars and added a third birdie in the round. 
  • Ellen Ramstedt closed her front-nine with a birdie and used that momentum to close the round with eight pars on the back-nine. 
  • Jimena Marques and Maia Samuelsson combined for three birdies and 22 pars, as each student-athlete ended the round five-over.
