#WinningInParadise Continues with 3.0+ Fall GPA

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic University student-athletes tallied a 3.088 grade-point average (GPA) for the 2021 Fall semester. Their efforts continue what has now become the norm, posting at least a “B” average for 13 straight semesters, which equals six and half school years.

“The academic culture of FAU Athletics continues to prove itself each semester,” said Brian White, FAU’s vice president and director of athletics. “This academic consistency is a testament to the hard work our student-athletes dedicate to their academic pursuits, the work of our academics staff and the type of individuals our coaches bring to FAU.”

FAU’s 429 student-athletes posted a 3.088 Fall GPA, working in a hybrid model with classes being on campus for the first time in more than a year, as well as online. Soccer led the way on the men’s side by tallying a 3.387 GPA, the highest among the eight male teams. The men’s soccer team efforts are doubly special considering the Owls were not only in season, but also knocked off nationally ranked teams on their way to the Conference USA Championship Final. Baseball followed with a 3.317 GPA, and men’s tennis was finished third with a 3.312 GPA.

Among the 10 teams on the women’s side, the golf team – under the direction of first-year head coach Heather Bowie Young – earned a 3.64 GPA to rank first, just ahead of the nationally-ranked beach volleyball team, who posted a 3.574 GPA and women’s swimming, who tallied a 3.495 GPA.

In total, 24 student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA, with 281 (or 65.5%)  above the department’s average. The women’s teams led the way with every team scoring a 3.05 GPA or better, and a total of 82.6% of female student-athletes recording a 3.0 or better GPA.
