WGOLF – #3 Sharks in hunt after two rounds at NCAA National Tournament

WINTER GARDEN, Fla. – Following two rounds of action at the NCAA National Championship tournament, the third-ranked Nova Southeastern Sharks Women’s Golf team is tied for ninth place (+15) and seven strokes out of position to advance to match play. Ellen Andersson (T3/-5/72/67) tied for the lowest round of the day and is one stroke off the lead for the individual title.

How it Happened
  • Ellen Andersson was spectacular throughout the morning and into the afternoon. After opening the round with a bogey, Andersson followed with a pair of birdies and an eagle, in addition to five pars, to close out the front-nine. Following the turn, Andersson tallied two more birdies, adding seven pars, to finish the afternoon with a bogey-free back-nine and shot a 67. 
  • Haruka Muta recorded seven pars across the front-nine, but also added a double bogey and a bogey, finishing the front-nine with a 39. Muta tallied six more pars, a birdie, and two bogeys on the back-nine, ending the afternoon with a 76.
  • Ellen Ramstedt cut two strokes off her score in her second round, recording three birdies and 10 pars, but tallied five bogeys. 
  • Jimena Marques began the round with four straight pars, and parred three-of-four holes to close the front-nine with a 36. On the back-nine, Marques opened with another four consecutive pars, followed by three bogeys, and ended the day with a 75. 
  • Maia Samuelsson started the second round with seven pars on the front-nine, book-ending the first half of the day with a bogey on one and a double bogey on nine. On the back-nine, Samuelsson parred seven-of-nine holes, adding a birdie and a double bogey. 
What's Next

The final round of stroke play of the NCAA National Championship tournament will be held on Thursday, May 23. The top eight teams following the round will advance to match play to determine the NCAA National Champion beginning on Friday, May 24.
