BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women’s basketball head coach LeAnn Freeland announced the signing of transfer guard Grace Carstensen from DePaul on Friday.
“Grace is a big guard with a tremendous upside,” expressed coach Freeland. “She has a great skill set and will have the opportunity to knock down a lot of threes in our system. Because of her leadership abilities and experience in the Big East, we expect her to have an immediate impact. We are excited to announce that Grace is an Owl!”
Carstensen, a native of Hinsdale, Ill., joins the Owls after playing the past two seasons with the Blue Devils. In 2024-25, she appeared in 15 contests, making three starts, and averaging 17.6 minutes per game as a sophomore. She recorded a career-high 15 points, shooting 63 percent (5-of-8) from 3-point range, at Michigan State.
As a freshman, Carstensen appeared in 17 games, including six Big East contests. She scored a season-high six points against Final Four participant UConn, going 2-2 from beyond the arc.
Carstensen graduated from Nazareth Academy, following a successful high school career. The First Team All-State honoree helped lead the team to its first IHSA State Championship in 2023, following a 35-1 record. As a senior, Carstensen averaged 11.8 points per game, while dishing out 82 assists and collecting 121 rebounds. She finished her high school career over the 1,000 points plateau and a 97-21 (.822) record during her time in La Grange.
