Watson, Bryant, and Clemons All Earn Medals at U23 NACAC Championships in Costa Rica

Clemons strikes gold with a personal best in the men’s long jump while Watson and Bryant both earn silver in women’s 400m hurdles and women’s long jump.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Members of Florida’s Track & Field program continued to accumulate impressive performances amongst international competition over the weekend. The trio of Gators including Vanessa Watson, Claire Bryant, and Malcolm Clemons traveled to San José, Costa Rica to represent Team USA at the U23 NACAC Championships.

Despite only participating in three events, each of the Gators walked away from the meet with medals in their own respective event and each earning points for Team USA.

Watson was the first to compete, and was the first Gator to the podium, as she placed second in the women’s 400m hurdles by posting a time of 56.05. Her time falls just 0.06 seconds short of her outdoor personal best which was set during a third-place finish at 2023 SEC Outdoor Championships.

Less than 24 hours later, Bryant also earned a second-place finish as she competed in the women’s long jump Saturday afternoon. Her best jump of 6.66m was just one of her six attempts, all of which reached a mark of over 6.58m.

Action concluded on Saturday night as Malcolm Clemons participated in the men’s long jump. Down to his final attempt, Clemons pulled off his personal best jump of 8.21m in route to capturing first place. This mark surpassed his previous personal best of 8.07m which he earned at NCAA Outdoor Championships in June.
